In October 2023, 10 teams of artists and researchers paired up for to collaborate on artworks based on their research at Phoenix Science Biocore (PBC).
My researcher partner is Dr. Melissa Herbst-Kralovetz who is leading groundbreaking studies on lactobacilli in the vaginal microbiome. This crucial, "good" bacteria fights off other damaging bacteria that contributes to illness and disease. Melissa's research is also focused on lesser-served populations of women in Arizona. It is our goal to bring the story of lactobacilli to life, and thus elevate life-preserving research and advocate greater health acces.
